Focus on Focuscom's Newest Faces!

This summer, Focuscom welcomes three new faces. Andie Unson joins the team as our new account coordinator along with Chilan Nguyen and Tori Siagian, our summer interns.

To get to know our new team members better, we decided to ask each of them a few questions.

Andie Unson

Andie was born in Manila, Philippines and spoke both English and Tagalog growing up.  She graduated from Pepperdine University with a public relations degree and Magna Cum Laude honors. During her years at Pepperdine, Andie was a part of the women’s golf team and Pepperdine’s PRSSA chapter.

●     What is a fun fact about you?

I am a major foodie, so a project I am most proud of is starting my Instagram account dedicated to food, Gourmet Golfer Gal. I live for trying out new places and sharing them with my fellow foodies.

●     Why were you interested in Focuscom?

I was first interested in Focuscom because of Dan Hom. He’s an amazing businessman and an extremely generous person. I also found it interesting how the agency does both public affairs and PR, and has a variety of clients.

●     If you weren’t working in PR what would you be doing?

I would surely be in culinary school, most probably Le Cordon Bleu in Paris.

●     If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? And what would you be eating?

I Love Lucy is my most favorite TV show, so I would choose to have dinner with Lucille Ball. We would probably be enjoying chocolates because the episode where she and Ethel work in a chocolate factory is one of the funniest ones.

●     What’s your favorite thing to do in San Diego?

Checking things off my food list, as well as playing golf.

Chilan Nguyen

Chilan is a San Diego native who is currently going into her junior year at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She is majoring in journalism on the advertising, public relations, and news tracks with a minor in graphic design. In Omaha, Chilan is an active member within Families in Action and Girl Scouts.

●     What is a fun fact about you?

Chilan met a few of the Kardashians at her friend’s family restaurant in La Jolla.

●     Why were you interested in Focuscom?

PR is an area that I am very interested in and interning at Focuscom has given me a look into what PR is like. One aspect of Focuscom that stood out to me was how involved in the community they were.

●     If you weren’t working in PR, what would you be doing?

Honestly, I would be a food critic. You just get to taste food all day long and get paid for it.

●     If you could have dinner with anyone, dead or alive, who would it be? What would you be eating?

It would have to be Chance the Rapper. He’s so down to earth and I’d just want to ask him questions about how he got started. To eat we’d probably go somewhere low key like McDonalds.

●     What is your favorite thing to do in San Diego?

Go to the beach all day!

Tori Siagian

Tori is a senior at La Sierra University where she will graduate in the spring of 2018 with a degree in Communication: Public Relations. At La Sierra, she is the current president of the Communication club. Throughout high school and college, Tori has participated in local and international missions trips, which led to her love for travel and different culture.

●     What is a fun fact about you?

Tori has two covers on her friend’s youtube channel that total 27.2 K views.

●     Why were you interested in Focuscom?

I really appreciate how rooted Focuscom is within the community. I also love how close the whole team is with each other. Since I was hoping to find an internship in San Diego, Focuscom felt like the best fit for me.

●     If you weren’t working in PR, what would you be doing?

I would love to be a photojournalist for National Geographic. To me, there is no feeling in the world that compares to travelling and experiencing a new culture. I also love photography. So naturally, getting paid to travel and take pictures would be a dream come true

●     If you could have dinner with someone, dead or alive, who would it be? What would you be eating?

I would love to have dinner with Nick Jonas.  I have been obsessed with him since I was 13 so getting to have dinner with him would be the highlight of my life. I can imagine us eating Italian food, just because it’s my favorite.

●     What is your favorite thing to do in San Diego?

Since I have several friends in San Diego, I like to hang out with them and check out new places to eat.  I also love walking through downtown on my way to and from work, which leads me to even more new places to try.

We are so happy to welcome our new team members.  We’re excited to see your work with Focuscom!
