Dan Hom
CEO and President
Dan Hom has more than 20 years of community involvement, business experience and international expertise. As the President of Focuscom, his responsibilities include managing and providing strategy for clients, and driving business development. Dan has significant experience with various communities in San Diego County. Over the years, Dan has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for organizations like the San Diego Hospice, the Risen Project, the San Diego Asian Film Foundation, and the Asian Business Association. He was also a board member of two privately held corporations, each with revenues exceeding $10 million annually.
Born and raised in San Diego, Dan is a community relations expert and his community connections continue to stretch across a wide range of areas and industries. Dan studied political science at San Diego State University with a minor in Mandarin Chinese studies. He currently lives in the city of Chula Vista with his wife, Lisa, and their daughter, Audrey.
Lisa Hom
Controller
Lisa is Focuscom Inc.’s financial controller with a role that focuses on invoicing aspects, directing all accounts receivable and accounts payable. Currently, she is the controller at Polaris Pharmaceuticals Inc. In La Jolla. She is responsible for oversight of all finance, accounting and reporting activities.
Prior to joining Focuscom Inc., she was the staff accountant at Bullen Ruch & Neller, a CPA firm. She has also served at the community service representative for San Diego County Supervisor Ron Roberts.
Michelle Alvarez
Account Executive
Michelle Alvarez is a PR consultant at Focuscom Inc. where she works alongside the team to create and develop strategic plans to help further the success of businesses. She is a San Diego native with a strong passion for the public relations industry and loves making meaningful connections with people.
Michelle previously worked for KUCI Radio and the Newport Beach Film Festival where she helped increase their online presence through precise and organized marketing action. She attended California State University, Fullerton, majoring in Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. Her background in customer service has given her outstanding interpersonal skills in both English and Spanish. She strengthens the Focuscom team by having the ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively, which allows her to quickly adapt to any situation presented. Michelle adds a spark to Focuscom with her genuine excitement and eagerness to meet and help people within the public relations world.
Sukheon Jung (Sue)
Intern
Sukheon Jung is Focuscom’s new intern. She is a student from Korea who is interested in a career in PR; she is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in PR/Advertising at Sookmyung Women’s University(SMWU) in Seoul, Korea. She came to the U.S. to gain professional experience in PR and brand communications as well as further improve her abilities in English.
During her studies at SMWU, she has practiced PR/Advertising theories and techniques through courses including Entertainment PR and Brand communication. As part of her undergraduate studies, she was also able to take part in Naver Search Advertising Program. The goal of the project was to promote a small brand by using the search engine and keyword advertising program offered by Naver, as known as Korean Google.
Now, she is doing media monitoring, answering phones, taking down client information, assisting with political fund-raisers, and drafting basic press releases. She is also very interested in many aspects of travel, culture and fashion. She is excited to handle the work of Focuscom’s clients. She believes that her professional and academic background makes herself a unique candidate for this intern position.
Tomas Urtasun
Senior Consultant
Tomas Urtasun serves as a main point of contact for many of Focuscom’s wide client portfolio while also serving as a business development and daily strategic operation manager. He’s responsible for Focuscom’s largest clients and serves as point person for the agencies’ growing crisis communications arm.
Tomas exhibits keen interpersonal skills and an affinity for working with people from all walks of life. An active leader in the community, he serves as Board Treasurer for the Board of Trustees of San Ysidro Health Center, a top-10 community health network in the nation. He is also a new addition to the Board for San Diego Tax Payers Association and serves as a Big Brother during his free time.
He has worked previously for the U.S. Congress, San Diego Gas & Electric, Hutchens P.R., and Southwest Strategies, and internationally as a consultant for Enersud Clean Energy in Rio de Janeiro. Tomas has a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of San Diego.
Tomas is a 2016 San Diego 40 Under 40 Honoree, representing a group of bright and outstanding individuals. He was a finalist for San Diego Magazine’s 2013 Latinos Making a Difference. He’s also an avid athlete and competes in sports leagues year around. Tomas is bilingual and grew up in Imperial Beach, California.

Ashley Moy
Executive Assistant and Events Manager
Ashley acts as Focuscom’s primary point of contact for internal and external constituents on all matters pertaining to the CEO and President’s office. She also manages the firm’s events and all the logistics that come with it.
Prior to joining Focuscom Inc, she served as the Development and Membership Coordinator at the San Diego Chinese Historical Museum, where she managed the Museum’s membership program, marketing platforms and all development events. Before returning to the West Coast, she was the Development Assistant for the Deputy Director and Chief Development Officer at the Brooklyn Museum, New York where she greatly assisted in executing an ambitious vision and strategy for the Development department.
Born and raised in San Diego, Ashley has also developed a strong interest in serving her community. For a little over eleven years, she has volunteered her time for organizations such as Teen Korps USA, Salvation Army San Diego, Lux Art Institute, and San Diego Habitat for Humanity.
Her strong interest in serving one’s community extended into college where she led many community-oriented events and developed her passion for art and social justice. She attended University of Southern California, Los Angeles, majoring in Art History. She brings her wealth of knowledge of the nonprofit world to the Focuscom team.
